US Regulators Accelerate Crypto Policy Implementation with CFTC-SEC Coordination
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has launched a "crypto sprint" to advance President Trump's digital asset agenda, with Acting Chairman Caroline Pham confirming collaboration with SEC Chairman Paul Atkins on "Project Crypto." This regulatory push follows a 166-page White House report advocating for comprehensive reforms to position the U.S. as the global leader in cryptocurrency innovation.
The CFTC has already introduced 24/7 trading and perpetual derivatives on registered markets this spring, while scrapping outdated guidance to enhance clarity. The agency hosted its inaugural crypto CEO Forum and is exploring pilot programs for digital asset markets alongside tokenization initiatives. Meanwhile, SEC Chairman Atkins unveiled Project Crypto at the America First Policy Institute, outlining plans to modernize securities regulations and facilitate on-chain financial markets.
